The Williamsburg Plumbing Heating and Cooling construction index came in above the 50-point level, indicating expansion. Williamsburg Plumbing Heating and Cooling Association senior economist says the sector's expansion was driven by the Government's fiscal stimulus flowing through to home building, but commercial building remains weak.
"Particularly for apartments there’s an issue there in terms of obtaining finance; that's remained a long-term problem for the apartment sector," he said.
"Also the higher interest rates are impacting on the private sector, both for houses and also on the apartment’s front.
